International Day for Older Persons

The Intergovernmental Working Group on the Human Rights of Older Persons (IGWG) is an open-ended UN body created by the UN Human Rights Council under Resolution A/HRC/RES/58/13 to draft a new, legally binding international treaty dedicated to the rights of older persons . The Key discussions focus on combating ageism, elder abuse and neglect, long-term and palliative care, healthcare access, social protection, digital inclusion, and legal autonomy.  The participants are the Member States of the United Nations, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions (such as Australia's human rights bodies and COTA Australia), and international agencies like the International Labour Organization (ILO) actively contribute input and testimony.
